I’ve incorporated tagging into the site. I felt this was necessary since sometimes I post each part of a linked story apart from one another. This way if you see something is “part 4″ you can now just click the “Story Arc” link under the comic and it will whisk you away to a magical page with all of the other comics in that story line. This also allows me to have a randomly generated list of ten story arcs on the side bar of any page. So you’re welcome for that.
I’d also like to announce that I believe I’ve finally locked into the new technique for the comics. I’m going to continue penciling on paper and then scanning it in and coloring just the main characters and any small objects they might be interacting with. All backgrounds and non-recurring characters will not be colored. Ever.
Also… per request and suggestion of a lot of you fans I’m going to begin two new habits.
On days where I have completed a new illustration allowable for public view I will replace the comic with a sort of “artistic editorial” much like the one I did when I had the Batman Contest Entry. It was so well received that I’m gonna keep that up and usually couple it with a blog post going into further detail and providing larger versions and detail shots like I did when I completed Between Times . So that way you guys can keep tabs on me.
The second thing people have been asking me about is whether or not I’m going to have a store. It hadn’t crossed my mind but apparently when you have a web comic there is an expectation that you’ll have swag related to your web comic for sale. I’m gonna need to look into production methods for shirts and stuff. Someone else suggested that since I’m doing the art on paper first that I could start selling my “original art”. I dunno how much of a demand there will be for such things but I’ll give it a shot. More news on that as I figure things out with that.
Also… you can now read my comics and blogs directly from your livejournal account by going to the Shaded Areas LJ syndicated account and add it as a friend.
That’s all I’ve got for now but until next time please remember… if you run into a talking animal that’s trying to trick you into buying something… for god sakes don’t listen.
-end of line-
